Congratulations to Eirwen and Cantorion Collen singers and guests who took part in the wonderful 2016 Christmas concert. With the support of Barclays Bank pound for pound scheme, the amount raised was £1,000.  Diolch yn fawr i bawb

We were delighted to receive the collection (£260) from the Seion Chapel Gymanfa Ganu at the beginning of Eisteddfod week.  Diolch yn fawr iawn i bawb.

Members of the Trust spent 2 days running a prize draw at the Maelor hospital, Wrexham.  Among the prizes was a day trip on Glas y Dorlan. In all £177 was raised and we met a lot of potential users. Many thanks to everyone who helped on the day including several of our volunteer skippers.

The Trust decided in 2013 to update our skippers' Certificates of Competence with the National Community Boats Association.  Six of our skippers took the course and were successful. Two of those skippers went on to take the 'train the trainers' course run by the NCBA and were successful. We are pleased to report that Selwyn Jones and Stanley Crabtree are now qualified to train our skippers. Since being registered as NCBA trainers, Selwyn Jones and Stanley Crabtree have been kept busy, bringing our experienced volunteers up to the recognised NCBA standards.

We are blessed with a team of dedicated volunteer skippers, without whom we could not carry on our service. Congratulations to all our skippers for the work they do.

Miss Bethan Parry chose an unusual means of transport to arrive at her wedding to Gareth Coles at the Lions Quay Hotel in July. The bride, who was accompanied by her father, Derek Parry, one of our skippers, chose our narrow boat for this important journey. The boat was skippered by Terry Thelwell, another of our skippers and his wife, Betty. We wish Bethan and Gareth good luck for the future!

The relaunch of Glas y Dorlan after its winter refit on 3rd May 2011 at Trevor Basin. The ceremony was performed by the High Sheriff of Clwyd, E.F. Lloyd FitzHugh O.B.E., D.L., J.P., followed by a blessing by his chaplain, the Rev. Gary Windon.
